We’ve had 2 kids in the span of 20 months, saying our life is hectic is an understatement. Adding exclusive breastfeeding on top of that has taken up even more time and energy away from our alone time.

Some people say that once you have kids the intimacy in your relationship is gone and out of the window. Let’s be honest: that can true if you don’t put the work in to maintain your marriage after kids.  Going back to back with the newborn stage of parenting sometimes leaves me feeling like a zombie, and romance is sometimes the last thing on my mind. Not to mention, my boobs aren’t just mine anymore. I get to feel like a cow getting milked on the regular with my exclusive pumping schedule. I know, not sexy to say the least.

One thing we have to always remember is that when you are married you should be actively working on your marriage. You have special relationships with each child that you can easily maintain whether you have one child, or five. So you have to constantly remember to work at keeping your marriage strong as well. These five tips will help in maintaining intimacy in marriage after kids. Don’t miss the Giveaway BELOW: Simple Wishes All In One Super Mom Bra and Panty Set! The Power Of Touch

A simple touch of the back, a long hug goodbye can give you butterflies all over again. Make sure to touch your spouse each day, whether it be a hug, holding hands as you take the kids out to play, or a snuggle watching your favorite show once the kids are asleep. Having a consistent touch between the two of you will help keep you feeling like you are more connected. Plus it helps each of you to feel wanted and special when the other goes out of the way to show affection.

Spoil Your Spouse

Having a strong marriage helps build a strong foundation for a family. Make sure to go out of your way to spoil your spouse on the regular. Do small acts to show them you are thinking of them and wanting to make them feel extra special. Whether it be cooking your husband their favorite meal, letting them sit and watch their favorite sports team play alone, or anything else they enjoy. Just go out of your way to let them know you are always thinking of them.

Intimacy

Being intimate is the glue to a marriage. It is a way to really connect and bond on a deeper level, with nice benefits as well. If you are dealing with postpartum sex drive, know that in time things will feel more boosted. Your spouse just loves being with you, don’t allow your self-conscious mind to hold you back from creating that intimate time your husband needs and craves. Even while breastfeeding, we are able to incorporate sexy yet functional lingerie, like the SuperMom bra from Simple Wishes.

This isn’t your typical hands-free pumping bra, If you’re in the need of an amazing amazon pumping bra then this is the one I recommend adding to your cart. This is the perfect pumping bra to go from boardroom to bedroom.  The top clips give you access to a built-in pumping bra and the 2nd layer unclips to allow comfortable nursing. I can’t forget the delicate lace that lines the bra and panty, making it perfect for a fun night with the hubby.

Date Nights

If you think you don’t have money for a sitter or can’t find the time, consider having a date night in. It doesn’t have to be a huge deal of dinner and a movie. Nowadays we set aside time to watch a television show or make dinner together, it’s all about quality time. Maybe you can have lunch together a few times a week, so there are no interruptions. Just making time for you two to connect on a deeper level than daily life talk.

Same Parenting Style

I know this is weird to toss in for some, but you will be amazed when you are on the same parenting style how you fight less. You agree to raise your children and discipline them the same way. I suggest sitting down and working together to come up with a plan that you both agree on, and then you will find you won’t have as many fights over what you should or shouldn’t do when it comes to raising your kids.

This is great, I totally feel you on the feeling like a cow! I used to joke that the first few months after baby being born was a party with my 3 new friends- baby and 2 boobs. I have 4 kids now that I nursed, and one thing I learned was touching without it leading to sex. Just hugs or a hand squeeze, I found that helped reduce my stress without feeling like I had to give myself more at the moment. Thanks for posting!
