My Favorite Formula For Gassy Babies
Kezie is my peaceful baby, but also my gassy baby. It’s not unusual for him to let out a little toot here and there (sorry Kezie, it’s the truth). After we started supplementing with formula around 8 months, my once peaceful son became a fussy baby. Formula has nutrients and calories that a baby needs to thrive, but finding a formula that works for your baby can be tricky.
Babies typically eat around every 2 hours for the first few months of life. Then, they slow down in frequency and increase in amount as they get older. If you start bottle feeding, don’t be shocked to learn your baby takes hundreds of bottles the first year of their life. Also, not all formulas are created equal. When you find that bike pedaling, walking around, and every other tip in the book doesn’t stop a fussy baby, it is time to head to your pediatrician. They can help you decipher what might be making your baby fussy.

Which Formula For Gassy Babies?
Switching to a new formula can be a process, and the change doesn’t happen overnight. Every baby is different, so formula isn’t always a one size fits all thing. Enfamil NeuroPro™ Gentlease® formula is our go-to formula for gassy babies. Enfamil NeuroPro™ Gentlease® is a gentle formula for easing fussiness, gas, and crying in 24 hours, and it gave us the confidence in knowing he is comforted and getting the nutrients he needs. It’s gentle on baby’s system and can help ease gas, leaving him feeling happy and comfortable. Gentlease offers complete nutrition for babies through 12 months, such as vitamins & minerals for immune support.
Tips for Switching Baby Formulas
1. Talk To Your Pediatrician
I always recommend making an appointment with your pediatrician if your baby’s mood seems to change out of the blue, or you are concerned about the formula to start with. Pediatricians often have sample formula to allow for convenient trialing as you find the right one for your baby. It’s essential to work in collaboration with a medical professional to make the best decisions for your child. At the end of the day, you make the final decision on what happens, but having a pediatrician will help guide you. That being said, make your doctor aware of any formula changes.
2. Use Bottles That Work For Your Baby
I got uncomfortable to tell you how many types of bottles we went through with our first son. As we began exclusively pumping, we first went through 6 different baby bottles, ranging from nipples that mimicked the breast and several that promised to reduce gas or fussiness. Our first son either rejected the nipple or uncomfortable from the gas that formed from the bottles. When you pair the bottle that works for you with NeuroPro Gentlease®, you might be amazed at the difference it makes.

3. Switch Formula Slowly
When changing formulas, we usually suggest switching completely over to the new formula, but your baby’s doctor is in the best position to guide you.
A change in a baby’s diet often needs an adjustment period.
Most babies adapt to their new diet within a few days. During this time, you may see slight changes in stool pattern, gas, and/or spitting up.
If needed:
A few days is usually three to five days. In some situations of an allergic reaction, it may take longer than three to five days for the allergic reaction to completely go away.
