It’s February, and you know what that means! We are officially in the month of love. My husband and I like to use this period as an opportunity to reflect on our marriage and the relationship that’s flourished over the years, producing two of the greatest joys of our lives: our sons.
With each year comes a renewed commitment to sharing our love for each other through acts both big and small. One simple act of love I share with my husband is getting his favorite snacks and putting them under his desk for him to find when he’s hungry. For my sons, it can be as little as listening to my five years old tell me about Transformers over and over again. No matter the amount, each gesture of love counts.
As a mother, expressing love means so much to me as I’ve become so hyper-aware of how fleeting time can be as I watch my adorable little humans grow up so quickly. In these moments you can’t help but be reminded of how you’re growing older as well. My desire to protect my boys only strengthens over time, especially when I acknowledge that I may not always be able to hold them. It brings a great sense of comfort knowing that my husband and I have established a safety net for them through our life insurance plans.
Life insurance is love insurance. It is a simple act that has a profound impact on the lives of those you care about most. Life insurance has never been a taboo topic within our relationship, but I understand that many people may find it uncomfortable to discuss death. I strongly believe that it is so vital to promote awareness and remove the discomfort that comes with discussing life insurance. If you’re still uncertain about establishing a life insurance plan, you can get the facts by watching this short video HERE.
We initially signed up for life insurance right after we got married, in anticipation of starting our new family. Prior to our marriage, we had agreed that it was important to protect our family, just in case something happened. This importance resonates with us, even more, today as we navigate through the current global pandemic. Through this challenging period, we’ve not only made our physical well-being a priority but our financial wellness too. When it comes to personal finances, my husband and I have always talked openly about money. We both share bank accounts. What’s mine is his, and what’s his is mine. We make it a point to talk often about our finances so we can continue to work together to accomplish our goals. In fact, at the time I wrote this blog post, we had concluded our 14-Day Financial Fast where we cut back on our expenses, updated our financial goals, and reviewed our budget for the upcoming year.
Our life insurance policies have become a non-negotiable living expense that we don’t give a second thought to. It means a lot to know that there will be financial support for our loved ones during the inevitable event that we pass. The peace of mind that comes with the assurance of having my family protected greatly calms my anxieties, especially during the current global pandemic.
