When you need to stay home, these date night ideas are perfect. Enjoy time together with these creative ideas.

Life is so different during this pandemic. All those tried and true date night ideas – concerts, movies, sporting events – have to change. While we can still grab a bite to eat outside (or inside, if there is room), it’s still safer to just stay home.

At-home date night ideas can be tough to think of. There is only so much you can do in your living room and kitchen.

That’s why when I came up with these ideas, I had to share them with you. I hope these ideas give you some fresh new ways to have fun at home on your new dates.

Creative Date Night Ideas At Home

Please take my ideas and make them your own. If there something on this list you don’t enjoy doing, change it up! The most important thing about a date is spending time enjoying each other. You should do things that make you laugh and teach you something new about your spouse or partner.

Break out of the ordinary and try some of these fun ideas.

Have An Indoor Picnic

My favorite idea is to set up a blanket on the living room floor and have an indoor picnic. My husband loves to cook with Blue Apron, and he can pick out something really unique and different for our picnic that we can eat on the floor.

Blue Apron is incredibly resourceful. Their recipes give you a break from the ordinary – which is really important during a date-night in.

For our date night, my husband prepared an elegant Calabrian chile butter steaks with roasted pepper panzanella. Our Blue Apron box came with everything we needed for it – recipe with photos, and all the food.

All we had to do was follow the instructions and enjoy the meal together.

If you are going to have an indoor picnic, put on some music that fill you with good memories of your time together. Reminisce together about your early memories as a new couple, and chat about the new foods you are trying with Blue Apron

Play Would You Rather

This is a fun game that requires no setup and no pieces. It’s basically asking each other really random questions. The best thing about this game is that you can go really deep with it and learn a lot about your partner.

These questions are a great place to start. Don’t just answer the questions, ask each other why they made the choice they did.

Paint Coffee Mugs

Another fun date night idea is an arts and crafts project that you can use after it’s finished. Paint coffee mugs for each other! This tutorial shows you how easy it is and all the supplies you need.

You can add inside jokes to it or paint your favorite colors. Want to make them romantic? Paint something that reminds you of the first time you knew you loved them.

Play Video Games

If you have video games at home, challenge each other to a fun competition. You can make it more interesting by placing pets! The loser has to clean the kitchen?

Take turns picking out the games you will play. This is a fun way to go back to your childhood and let loose for a night.

Make A Theme Night

If you are going to do a picnic, put on a movie that matches the theme of your food. One night we made roast duck, so it would be fun to watch a romantic comedy or even The Mighty Ducks

If your Blue Apron dinner is Italian, you could enjoy some gelato for dessert and watch an Italian movie like Letters To Juliet

Write Out The Story Of How You Met

If you love to write, then create a story together about how you met and fell in love. You can create this story in any number of creative ways.

If you are artistic and love to draw, illustrate how you met and fell in love with pictures.

Another fun way to record this story is on camera. Tell the story together on camera. This will be lots of fun for your grandkids to see someday.

Have A Marshmallow Fight

This is a really fun way to blow off some steam and you can do it in your living room! Buy some PVC pipe from your hardware store and create your own marshmallow gun. Set up a course around your living room and then have an all-out war!

The best thing about this is that the marshmallows are easy to clean up and won’t hurt anything.

Have A Living Room Camp Out

After you finish the picnic, set up a fort or even a tent in your living room and camp out! You can even make some indoor s’mores and tell each other scary stories.

The best thing about camping in your living room is that you can just walk to your bed if the floor is too uncomfortable.

Take Personality Tests

This is all about learning more about each other and what better way than taking personality tests?

Not only will you learn more about yourself, but you’ll grow closer to your partner/spouse as you learn more about how they see the world.

Some of the best personality tests out there are:

Play Board Games

Board games are a classic way to enjoy time together. Is there a game deep in your closet that you haven’t played in a long time? Dust it off and play it!

There are also a ton of different games you can play with just a deck of cards. This list has almost every 2-person card game you might have heard of, along with links to the rules.
