There are so many parts to a skincare routine, Masks, toners, scrubs. If things weren’t complicated enough, let me also remind you that your skincare needs differ throughout the seasons. When you go from cold and dry weather to sunny and warm, that requires you to transition your skincare as well. During the winter, I went heavy on the serums to combat the dry, chapped skin I experience with the decrease in humidity. Exfoliating, cleansing, and moisturizing are important in the warmer months. Now that things are slowly heating up in Texas, I headed over to Walmart to grab my new cleanser and facial moisturizer. I’ve used Aveeno® products in the past and decided to grab the Aveeno® Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Cleanser and an old favorite, the Aveeno® Daily Moisturizing Lotion.
With unique skincare needs as an African American woman in her early 30s, I know how important it is to share a unique perspective in what works for our skin. Skin texture and even tone are areas that I’ve struggled with over time. One of the reasons I’ve returned to Aveeno® is to reach the fullest potential of my skin.
Going from Winter Skincare to Spring Skincare
Our Responsibility To The Earth
Did you know Earth Day is April 22nd? It’s held annually to demonstrate support of environmental protection a.k.a protect our species for centuries to come. Why is this important when choosing your skin care products? As the conscious or “woke” generation, it’s important we make choices that benefit the earth in the long run. That’s why I enjoy natural ingredients in my skincare like the soy and oats in Aveeno® Daily Moisturizing Lotion and Aveeno® Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Cleanser. These natural ingredients come from the earth, bring no harm as they return to the earth, and help bring my skin even tone and texture.
Spring Clean
The first item on the agenda is going through all the products you have on hand. Look at expiration dates to see if the product is even still useable. You don’t want to risk using old products on your delicate face.
Skin Brightening Cleanser
For spring, it’s time to wake up my skin and prepare it for all that the environment brings with the changing season. Aveeno® has a Skin Brightening Cleanser that I am enjoying for spring, especially since it doesn’t over-dry the skin. I love how this Aveeno® product helps even skin tone and texture for more radiant skin. It’s oil-free, soap-free and non-comedogenic which is a plus plus plus all around.
This cleanser helps to improve your overall skin tone, offers clarity and brightness to the skin, along with texture. You just lather onto the skin, massage, and rinse away. Best of all, it helps clean any oils and dirt from your skin without over-drying your skin—which is a huge plus for my combination skin.
Moisturizer
Using the right facial moisturizer is a must. Moisturizers keep your elasticity, prevent wrinkles and so much more. I’m not a stranger to Aveeno® Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer, and what attracted me to it is oat complex that helps even my skin tone. This is going to hydrate and moisturize your skin. Whether you prefer no makeup or makeup, you should apply your moisturizer in the morning and evening after toner and serum. This Aveeno® Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer is the perfect consistency to keep me moisturized for allthe Spring events coming up. A huge plus is that their moisturizer is sold at an affordable price point at Walmart. (Before your next visit to Walmart, be sure to look for an Aveeno® Earth Day event at a store near you! Sunscreen
No matter what the season is, you always want to apply sunscreen. No matter the race, you always want to apply sunscreen. This daily facial moisturizer with sunscreen is clinically shown to help improve tone, texture, and dullness. While body sunscreens can feel heavy on the skin and leave a greasy residue, you can invest in a sunscreen meant for your face. The Aveeno® Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer, as I talked about above, offers an SPF sunscreen to help protect your skin. So you get two products in one: it moisturizes and protects. If the moisturizer you use doesn’t offer sunscreen, you will want to invest in one that does. Make sure it is meant for your face and is lightweight so your makeup can go on smooth and not feel like it weighs you down or, more importantly, doesn’t leave you looking chalky.
Exfoliate
Exfoliating your skin is so beneficial. When you exfoliate, it helps to remove any dead skin cells and stimulates cellular turnover. Your prepped skin will absorb the products easier when applying. Your serums and moisturizers will glide on and soak in, essentially working better.
Whether a chemical or physical scrub, make sure not to exfoliate more than twice a week, as that can be harsh on your skin.
Simple tips that are easy to do even on busy days. I have always been using Aveeno lavender lotion, Love that smell! Pinned the post (as simpleblissfullife)
