TIPS FOR WORKING FROM HOME WHILE CARING FOR KIDS

This post is sponsored by RXBAR, however all opinions are 100% mine.

I’ve been working from home for the past year and a half so I know that it can be rough with preschoolers who always want to be entertained. It’s especially tough when you’re trying to run a business and there is no real clocking in or clocking out. I’m sharing 3 scary-simple tips to keep your sanity for those working from home and caring for young kids. I’ll give you a hint, they’re inspired by the scary-simple ingredients in RXBAR’s brand new RX Kids Protein Snack Bars.

Kids want attention all of the time, especially preschoolers. When they don’t get the attention they want they might show up in your home office to show you their new trick or come close for a few cuddles but we all can agree that at times that can be inappropriate when having a professional work meeting or trying to meet deadlines.

With all of the new changes, it’s so important to keep them engaged, educated and entertained while juggling your own responsibilities.

It’s been my experience that if you take 30 minutes of your most productive moments during the day to crank out a plan, you will see a huge difference. So here’s my 3 scary-simple tips, excited to hear what you think!

  1. Talk to them about your plans. It’s important for them to get an understanding of why their parent is unavailable and trying to protect boundaries around that.
  2. Set a routine for them and for you. Get them “ready” every morning before homeschool to help maintain routine and morale. It’s so easy to have homeschool in pajamas but even my oldest knows he needs to wear his “Sunny” shirt not his “night time” shirt to have a productive day.
  3. Give them choices they get to control. I opt for choosing their clothes for the day and what snack they can have. Ever since the launch of RXBAR’s new RX Kids Protein Snack Bars, I often set their RX Kids bars within reach. They have scary-simple ingredients and contain  5g of protein. They come in 4 flavors: Strawberry, Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. Our favorites are the double chocolate and Peanut butter chocolate chip!

Working from home while juggling kids during these crazy times requires quick thinking along with several backup plans. Keep good-for-you snacks stocked, keep the kids in the know and squeeze in flex time to give your little one a random cuddle.

And be sure to pick up RX Kids for you and your littles at Target, Walmart or rxbar.com! Let me know what flavor you and your kiddos are trying first!
