Raise your hand if you grew up imagining the hyper boy in class as the poster child for ADHD 🙋🏾♀️
Girls are often missed (Hello late diagnosis 👋🏾) because we’re:
-Masking
-Less Disruptive
-Inattentive vs Hyperactive ADHD type
-Internalizing our thoughts /struggles
-Brushing off certain signs such as forgetfulness or dyscalculia with ‘being a girl’
Being aware of how different girls may present can help them avoid self blame and receive appropriate accommodations in the classroom.
Thank you for sharing this article. This goes really unnoticed and still is unnoticed because all of the attention mostly goes to the boys who have ADHD and it isn’t until years later that women are finding out hey that I also may have ADHD.
