One of the most important things we can do during these unprecedented times is to build a spirit of community and gratefulness amongst our neighbors. Just imagine the impact we can make if we all perform a small act of kindness. This Labor Day season let’s #BuildThanks for a hardworking front line worker.

Lowe’s is committed to recognizing front line hero’s and is working hard to encourage you to spread the love this Fall by taking on small acts of kindness. That’s why I’m excited to share why I chose Dr. Oma Nzeh for a front porch makeover.

I was so excited to give a fall makeover to the front porch of a dear friend, Dr. Oma Nzeh. We met in college and have maintained a friendship over the past 15 years. Dr. Oma is currently a hospitalist at a busy Houston Hospital seeing both adult and pediatric patients. She works the front line, admitting patients from the ER to the floor, including COVID+ patients. I brought along my younger sister Monica and my husband to help me shop for items that would fit the modern style of her home. I loved adding some flair to her front porch for her and her young family to enjoy in between your shifts at the hospital. She even mentioned how her grandmother loves hanging out on the porch and was so appreciative.

We incorporated a fun DIY project that cost us less than $50 and was the perfect touch to the front porch. We took a plain doormat to a custom doormat with a quirky quote. The instructions and products we used can be found here on Lowes.com.

Do you want to nominate a hardworking neighbor?
